OCTG, also known as Oil Country Tubular Goods, is a steel pipe specifically designed for oil and gas extraction, also known as petroleum specific pipes.
OCTG mainly includes the following categories:
Tubing: used for transporting oil and natural gas.
Casing: used to protect the wellbore and isolate different formations.
Drill pipe: used to transmit rotational power and drilling pressure during the drilling process.
Drill collar: used to increase the torque of the drill bit and stabilize drilling.
Square drill pipe: a component that connects the drilling rig and drill string, transmitting rotational power.
Material and Performance
The materials and properties of OCTG are classified according to the grading method of API (American Petroleum Institute), mainly divided into the following categories:
Low to medium steel grade: suitable for conventional wells.
High steel grade: suitable for deep wells, high temperatures, high pressures, or corrosive environments.
According to the requirements of chemical composition, tensile properties, yield strength, and hardness, oil well pipes are divided into four groups, totaling 11 steel grades and 19 specifications.
The manufacturing standards usually include: API 5L & 5CT、and 5DP,  ISO、EN, GOST and so on.
